The barbers showcasing skills for industry growth

Updated: Feb 6, 2020

This week the very first FELLOWSHIP for BRITISH HAIRDRESSING workshop took place at the Alan d Academy in London where a handful of gifted barbers ran the first Men’s Hair Workshop of 2020. Richard Tucker of Ruffians, Rino Riccio of Manifesto and men’s educator Claudio Marini from Alan d. The shortage in quality skills in barbering shows no signs of letting up and thanks to the generosity and passion of barber mentors like Richard, Rino and Claudio the FELLOWSHIP is doing it’s bit to help. The workshop hosted by Alan Hemmings Director of Alan d delivered real skills into the hands of lucky attendees.

Mentors worked closely with the students to create a finished look on models or mannequin heads, with guidance on the most appropriate techniques for cutting and finishing. Guest mentor, Richard Tucker from Ruffians says: “There was a great energy in the room. My three students were a joy to mentor. They showed so much interest in the craft and wanted to learn as much as they could. It was also great to chat with the other mentors and even the photographer about our experiences in the industry and with the Fellowship, not only did I feel like I was able to help others,” he concludes, “But this workshop helped me with my own confidence and teaching skills.”

Well done to everyone involved!
